Energy is defined as the ability to do work. And we all need energy in our homes and offices. Because of our daily need for energy, many companies and individuals have come up for their provisions.
Our daily energy needs ranges from:
1.
Fuel for our cars, trucks, ships, equipment and
generators.
2.
Electricity for our homes and industries.
3.
Fuel for our heaters and cookers.
None of us can survive without energy. Fortunately, nature
has provided for our daily energy needs, but unfortunately many of us are still
very ignorant of this provision.
For instance, have you ever considered how the early men
survived without the electricity, the sun, wind, water and the woods were their
common sources of energy (renewable energies) and their environments were
preserved for us today. But what are we doing today? use nonrenewable energies
such as petroleum, nuclear, gas etc. and destroy our environments. “The
environment is for our children, use it and preserve for them”. Have you ever
considered the amount of heat coming from the Sun this days, was that the same
30 years ago? We are depleting the shield (ozone layer) protecting the earth
from the excess heat from the Sun by our various activities particularly in
energy generation and industrial wastes that harm the environment.
When we use a generator for instance to generate electricity
for our homes and industries, the following wastes are sent into the
environment:
1. Carbon monoxide/dioxide is sent into the atmosphere. These
gases pollute the air.
2. Noise is also generated which also pollute the air.
3. Oil spillage pollutes the soil.
4. Carbon sooth also pollutes the soil.
These are just a very few examples, just because we want to generate electricity
we want to use now; we destroy and pollute the environment for our children. If
our fore parents polluted and destroyed the environment, what will we have
inherited? Think about it. Yet we can still generate the same electricity with
a generator that works on bio fuel, which is far less harmful to the
environment. Think about this also.
